Description

Omega launched the Planet Ocean collection as a tribute to their dive watch heritage, acknowledging the incredible maritime legacy they have gained throughout the years. This model combines a sturdy stainless steel case with a black structured rubber strap hosting orange stitching and lining, creating a unique and aesthetically pleasing contrast. Framing the dial is a polished black ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel, the world’s first black ceramic bezel possessing orange rubber which also features a diving scale crafted from Liquidmetal®. Fortifying the dial is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass dome with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, protecting the polished black ceramic backdrop which features Arabic numerals and a date window at the 3 o’clock position. Superluminova has also been applied across the dial allowing easier legibility during low light situations, offering a fantastic attribute. At the heart of this timepiece is the Omega master chronometer calibre 8900, an automatic movement with co-axial escapement. In order to achieve master chronometer status, the watch has passed a series of 8 rigorous tests set by METAS (The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology), and is resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. As well as an astonishing 600 metre water resistance and a power reserve of 60 hours, the item features a helium escape valve to regulate pressure when diving. The ingenious transparent case back offers an inventive and innovative finishing touch, allowing the complex mechanism inside the watch to be viewed and admired.
