How Best Friends Became Fashion Designers?

Best friends Jemma Fennings and Lesa Bennett set up the brand in 2012. The pair met during their studies at the London College of Fashion and the rest is history.

After graduating, Lesa and Jemma entered the fashion retail industry as buyers for Selfridges and ASOS. It was there they noticed a gap in the market for watches that had truly creative and beautiful designs for fashion-conscious women. They believed watches should be great accessories. With this in mind and feeling inspired, they began designing their own watches.

They launched Olivia Burton in 2012. They named the brand after Lesa's great-aunt who was a great source of encouragement in the early stages of the pair's business venture. Lesa and Jemma's designs were fashion-focused, and they wanted them to be accessible to all women. The brand's feminine style was an instant hit on Instagram, and Harvey Nichols soon began stocking their watches. From humble beginnings at the kitchen table, the brand moved to its first office in 2013.

2016 was a big year for Olivia Burton. They made waves with the release of their vegan-friendly leather strap watches and launched their brand in the USA. They then certainly finished the year on high with the release of their stunning jewellery range.

In July 2017 the brand was acquired by the Movado Group, and Olivia Burton's first brick-and-mortar store was opened in Covent Garden in May 2018.
