The TAG Heuer Monza Chronograph
To mark the 40th anniversary of the Monza, TAG Heuer has released a re-issue that is an ode to the original model. First crafted to celebrate Ferrari’s 1975 win and debuted in 1976, the Heuer Monza Chronograph is a true icon.
Back then, the watch was markedly different, yet still indisputably stylish. Many of its original features can be seen in the 2016 reissue, as the watch nods to its original roots. Only reissued a handful of times, the Heuer Monza is equipped with the original watches two key functions; the pulsometer and tachymeter scale.
With its famous coussin case at its centre, the watches casing, now 42mm, is crafted from grade 5 titanium and is finished in a sleek and stylish black titanium carbide coating. With a new updated dial design, the watch features two sub dials which are reversed from its predecessor, with red accents featured throughout the design.
Finished with a super racing strap in full-grain black calfskin with stitching, the design evokes the image of the three spoke steering wheel featured on racing cars of the time.
The original Heuer Monza is highly sought after by collectors and it’s easy to see why. So close to the spirit of the original, this model born to celebrate its 40 year anniversary is a true milestone in the history of TAG Heuer’s heritage.
