Swarovski set to dazzle on Cinderella

‘A dream is a wish your heart makes’, and who could dream of anything more exquisite than a pair of divine Swarovski crystal slippers?

Yes my avid Disney fans, Cinderella is stepping out of the cartoon and onto the silver screen in a blaze of sparkling Swarovski crystals.

Swarovski has a long history that spans over 80 years within the film industry. They have succeeded in supplying some of the greatest movies of all time including; The Wizard of Oz, Some Like It Hot, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Black Swan and The Great Gatsby, plus many more, including their new addition: Cinderella.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh this movie is set to be a colossal hit, with such great stars as, Helena Bonham Carter (Fairy Godmother), Cate Blanchett (Stepmother), Derek Jacobi (The King) and in the starring role of Cinderella, the beautiful Lily James, soon to be chased by Prince Charming (Richard Madden) frantically waving a shoe.

Academy Award winning costume designer Sandy Powell teamed up with 8 Swarovski technicians to help realise the design of the costumes and the iconic glass slippers. In total it took 150hrs working on 6 versions of the shoes before the design was finalised, a glorious pair of 6 inch heels with dimensions that measure 186x75x196mm, featuring 221 facets in a light reflecting Crystal Blue Aurora Borealis coating.

Along with a pair of blazingly gorgeous shoes - that would make Christian Louboutin jealous -Swarovski also supplied 1.7 million crystals to attach to the costumes, as well as many vintage pieces to create a more glamorous feel to the ballroom scenes.

Make sure you have a front row seat and are sporting your own Swarovski crystals, when Cinderella hits the Cinema screens on March 13th, 2015.
